The Afghanistan War and the Media

Have you ever watched the nightly news as they talk about the war in Afghanistan? All of a sudden all the news commentators come to be experts on the topic, and we have armchair generals come in and do interviews. Obviously, the American population are curious in this topic, and yet, we have to wonder if we are doing a disservice to our troops, military, and no ifs ands or buts hurting the outcome of the war.

It seems to me rather unfair to put armchair generals on Tv to do commentary about the war, and to supply scenarios of potential eventualities while battles, or the political ramifications of ongoing conflict. I feel that the Us forces, and Us soldiery have been compromised by the media in the past, especially while the Iraqi war, and it is unfortunate that we would allow our media to no ifs ands or buts do harm our soldiery or do what's best for our country. In Iraq, what about the population we are trying to help as they rebuild their nation.

Worse, we all know that this information is used by the enemy. They are also watching the same media, and they comprehend how it is effecting the mindset of the American people, therefore, they use this against us. Indeed, I suppose our soldiery also watches Al Jazeera, and uses that brain to help plan its time to come battles. If we are not just with the way we record on our wars, we can cause a no-win situation or even a defeat for our soldiery power.

There wasn't much coverage on the fact that the Us handed over the torch to the Iraqi government, and essentially it meant we had won the war, that President Bush was correct, and all has ended well. Still, the media has caused the public to think that we lost in Iraq. This perceived loss is not good for America, and it is a real question for morale and the results we will need to take care of the Iranian situation or the nuclear weapons standoff scenario with North Korea. Please reconsider all this.
